Lighting for Students Through Sustainable Design

Acuity Brands LightingThe Acuity Brands Lighting education facility in Conyers, Ga. presents an educational experience about lighting solutions for the school environment. This one-hour AIA HSW LU program is tailored for specifiers and equips them with an overview of the factors to consider when selecting lighting systems for modern classrooms. Participants will understand how to specify lighting systems that achieve excellent visibility and visual comfort, with flexible teacher controls for properly lighting the diverse visual tasks in today’s learning environment. The presentation also addresses energy efficiency and budget issues.

Lighting for Students through Sustainable Design is certified for the new AIA requirement of Sustainable Design (SD).

This Web-based symposium features an ABL expert in school applications. The learning objectives for the program are:
  • Understand the visual obstacles that reduce visibility and visual comfort, and identify lighting solutions that overcome these obstacles
  • Identify high-performance lighting solutions that exceed energy codes and meet school construction budgets
  • Evaluate proposed lighting layouts for proper illumination, room surface uniformity and teacher controls
