Program Description: 12.00 - 1.15 pm
The June program will focus on energy tax incentives and how lighting systems contribute to energy efficiency.
Part 1: Tax Incentives for Energy Efficient Lighting Systems in EPAct 2005
Richard Heinisch, Manager of Technical Services, Lithonia Lighting
Part 2: Distributed Lighting Control
John Bagwell, Director, Synergy Lighting Controls
Proper lighting plays a major role in facilitating the health, safety, wellbeing, and productivity of building occupants. The program features lighting-related tax incentives for commercial buildings found in EPAct 2005 and focuses on designing more energy efficient buildings through distributed lighting control strategies.
The program will lead to an understanding of how the tax incentives work, how to demonstrate compliance with the documentation requirements, how to use spreadsheets designed to estimate EPAct and energy savings, advantages and disadvantages of traditional lighting control solutions, new concepts of distributed lighting control solutions with resultant financial benefits.
Speaker Bios:
Richard Heinish (Lithonia Lighting) began in the lighting business in 1974. Most of his career has been spent designing optical systems for commercial and government projects, writing lighting related software, and developing other electronic tools for the lighting industry. Richard currently acts as company liaison to the Sustainable Site Technical Advisory Group of the USGBC (LEED), the Energy Management Committee of the Illumination Engineering Society (IESNA), the Lighting Sub-committee of the ASHRAE 90.1, the Technical Review Council of the IESNA, the Southeast Energy Efficiency Alliance (SEEA), and the Consortium for Energy Efficiency (CEE).
John Bagwell (Synergy Lighting Controls) has more than 25 years in the energy management and controls marketplace. One of three entrepreneurs that founded the successful startup of Triad Technologies in 1985, John led Triad Technologies to become one of the premier HVAC sensor, transducer and interface manufacturers in the United States. In the late 1980’s, John pioneered the development and marketing of an advanced lighting control system that seamlessly integrated into the leading building automation systems including Andover Controls, Automated Logic Corporation, Johnson Controls and Siemens Building Technologies.
