To house an expanding youth membership, Weddington UMC decided to build a separate building across the street from the main sanctuary. This new facility is home to a daycare center, meeting rooms, a teen center complete with a band stage, and a gymnasium that can double as an auditorium.

OCL Lighting was selected for the meeting room to provide indirect lighting with a decorative touch. In addition to traditional designs, OCL offers a variety of contemporary looks thus the Voyager series was selected to provide a unique appearance for the Teen Center. The room is primarily illuminated with indirect lighting but an enhanced downlight feature adds sculpturing to the space and it’s occupants.

The gymnasium doubles as an auditorium space which demands greater flexibility from the lighting system. To answer this need, highbay fluorescent fixtures from Sportlite were selected. Each fixture is equipped with multiple switching capability to economically produce different light levels. In addition, six of these fixtures have one circuit of dimming. With this arrangement, the light levels that can be attained are almost limitless. Thus, full brightness can satisfy the needs of the basketball league, while lower brightness levels can be selected for banquets and multimedia presentations.
